The best broasted chicken and tenderloins around. The onion rings are amazing, but very big orders. One of the few places around that you can find home-made food. Love it!!

Even though I am a fan...visits are few and far between. You know, I am trying the healthy eating plan! Every once in awhile though one needs to feed the grease monster...enter their combo basket and one of the largest most delicious tenderloins in the valley. My dad & I stopped in to split the aforementioned just a few weeks ago after years apart...yum...it took my body a few days to recuperate.

Great find near the hotels. The broasted chicken was delicious and obviously homemade. The Mother Clucker fried chicken sandwich was also piping hot and delicious. Friendly servers and good beer complete the package.

Great bar food. Now the breaded tenderloin was something special! Hand cut of pork with nice breading deep fried to perfection. Draft beer is cold. Three flat screen televisions. Huge Budweiser Clydesdale mural on one wall. Bar seats about 12 patrons. 15 tables seat plenty more!

You know when you go for breakfast and there are nothing but 15-20 old guys there, you're in the right place. Wisdom. Breakfast here is excellent, and for lunch get the hot beef, it's great. Definitely a favorite spot in Waterloo

Bar & Grill food made fresh. Hand patted burgers, breaded fish & onion rings. The 1/2 order of rings was enough for me and my wife. Decked out in A-B steins & other advertising this STL boy felt right at home. Even struck up a conversation with a UNI supporter about Kurt Warner on our way out the door.

They take American Express, which is nice for a local establishment. Usually only chains accept AmEx. Every time I come here I get a "Frosty" Miller Lite & either Broasted Chicken or Tenderloin.

Best greasy spoon in the Cedar Valley! Great for large groups. They have a salad bar, soups, sandwiches and broasted chicken.

On a big road trip and we stopped in Waterloo for the night. We asked at our hotel where a good place was and he highly recommended the nearby Southtown. As soon as we walked in we knew we were in the right spot. It smelled so good! They have typical bar food, sandwiches, and specials. They also had pizza on the menu, but we didn't see anyone order that. My mom and friend ordered burgers that they really enjoyed. I couldn't pass up the broached chicken which was fantastic. My mom and I also ordered soup. It was homemade and served piping hot. My mom had the chicken noodle and loved it. I got something called cheeseburger chowder and found it to be one of the best cheese-based soups I've ever had. Their French fries and tater tots ( a fun menu selection) were also really good and rounded out our night in high-quality bar food paradise! If you're in the area and looking for some good eats, don't be afraid to stop here.

I eat here at least once every time I stay at the Holiday Inn, which is right across the parking lot. Great bar and grill with a terrific menu and daily specials. Food is great... Good pizza and very good burgers...lots of delicious choices. About 5 or so different beers on tap. Clean, friendly, professional, affordable, and consistent.

Came here for a drink and to watch basketball on a Saturday afternoon. The staff was AWESOME. Very attentive, even asking me what game I would like to watch before I even said anything about wanting to watch one. The place was clean, and food coming out smelled awesome for what it's worth. I'll definitely be coming back to try a tenderloin.

This is our second time here. From the outside you aren't even sure they are open. Comfortable, quiet atmosphere with dim lighting. The chicken supreme sandwich was SPECTACULAR.

This place is nothing fancy on the inside, but the food is cheap & good! The server informed me about the special & what the restaurant is known for. I ordered the broasted chicken (thigh & breast), coleslaw, & hash-browns. I also ordered the fried pickle spears. Everything came out hot. The chicken was juicy.

I was in town for work, and the hotel nearby recommended Southtown for a beer and some food. The menu is extensive, very well priced, and the food was delicious. Great service as well. I went back the next day for lunch, and then again for dinner. Great value. It was busy, not packed, the three times I went there mid-week. It's not fancy (feels like a diner with a nice bar to sit), but worth a stop if you just want a good meal at a great price.

Felt like home!

We were in the Waterloo area on a business trip, and were staying at the Holiday Inn Express. The front desk attendant suggested we stroll across the parking lot for dinner, taking us to the back door of Southtown. We rang the bell for entry, and pulled up a seat at the bar. The bartender (Joel) recommended a few items (the chicken and the onion rings), we chose the onion rings... they were oh so good! The service was great, and the atmosphere was friendly. Even though we were apparently from out of town the staff and the regulars made us feel right at home. Highly recommended!
