I wish i would have read the other reviews here before i wasted 50.00 bucks. The 22 dollar steak was tasteless. and fried rice was an extra 2.00. No show to speak of and the chief was sick or something. kept sniffling over our food. and coughed up once. there were only four people in the whole place and i still had to ask for a refill. Save your money go to Sakura at 75th & Nieman.

We have always gone to GoJo s on the Plaza, but we decided to give Happy Banzai a try. The food was bland, was lacking in seasoning, and it was very expensive for dinner. There was also not nearly as much food served as other places do, and we had no leftovers. The chef started coughing and he spit something up, which he wiped on the same towel that he was using to wipe the cooking knives. We had lost our appetite at this point. When I checked my credit card bill a few days later, they added an additional $22 without my authorization. I would definitely not recommend this to anyone and we will never return.

The food was just ok, and very expensive; it was not seasoned very well. There was also not as much food as we have received at other Japanese steakhouses, which are less expensive. The chef started to cough and spit up something, which he wiped on a towel, that he later used to wipe the knives he was using for cooking. When I checked my credit card bill a few days later, I noticed that they added an additional $22 to my receipt. I would definitely not recommend this restaurant.

Nice Little whole in the wall, but grills were dirty and plates and spoons were old and chipped. I was nervous eating the food because grill was not cleaned very well. Service was not good at all, it was slow. I had ordered iced tea and it came out with no ice and a straw and stirrer in the glass. I ordered Crab Ragoon and never got it until towards the end. I looked back for our waitress and saw the waitress rubbing her nose with her hands...Gross!!! The food was not seasoned well at all and the prices, expected for a place that is a Japanese Steakhouse, but not for what was served. We sat with another family and they said it was their second visit and both times service was Horrible and they thought it was a fluke the first time, but said it was the same as before. I AM DEFINITELY NOT GOING BACK!

My husband and I have been twice before but after this third visit, we will never return. Although our food was good and our hibachi chef was fun, the service otherwise was AWFUL! They kept trying to move us from table to table, charged me for a drink that I asked for twice and never received and overall never seemed to care about us at all. It was also very slow at 7:30 on a Friday night, never a good sign. Finally, the "miso" soup was just water with a quarter of a thinly sliced mushroom, not at all the quality that is was on previous visits.

didn't make it through the soup

we were eating soup, looked across to the next hibachi grill, and there was a cockroach crawling on the plates! Needless to say we didn't stay.I probably should call the health dept. if I could I would give no stars. that is totally unacceptable.

This was our first visit to this establishment and we will definitely be back. We find ourselves Japanese Steakhouse "snobs" and this is such a wonderful treat. We went for lunch and the prices were pleasantly inexpensive and we still got all the bells and whistles associated with a big name restaurant. I had the chicken special for lunch (today it was $5.95) and it included soup, salad and main meal including rice and vegetable...now I did splurge on the fried rice (extra $2.00) and it was worth it. My DD got steak and shrimp ($14.95) and she has requested this for her birthday dinner in the next few weeks. Please give them a try; you will be glad that you did!
