I've been going to Grace Nails for months, and typically Vanessa (co-owner) does my nails. She has been wonderful, professional and pleasant, always does a skillful job. Unfortunately the other day I had my nails done by Vanessa but she had to leave for a bit to do an eyebrow wax at which point her husband (co-owner) Leon took over and worked on my full set of nails. Before he sat down to take over I was asked if I wanted acrylic or gel. I typically get acrylic nails done, they are $10 cheaper and I think comparable to gel, and I am really trying to watch my budget! Well, Leon was right there and overheard me clearly say that I wanted acrylic nails done and he proceeded to sit down and ask me again if I wanted acrylic or gel as though he had never heard me say acrylic! When I asked him why he asked again, he went on an explanation of why gel was better. I told him I appreciated the points he had made, but I wanted acrylic. He seemed miffed and somewhat disgruntled, but continued to work on my nails until Vanessa returned. When she did, it was about time to polish the nails, so she started to ring me up (as is normal to avoid harming fresh-done nails), and when I asked the total amount due to pay her she said $35! I knew that was the price for a full set of GEL NAILS (full set acrylic are $25), so I looked directly at Leon and said, "Leon, did you actually tell Vanessa that I wanted GEL nails when I indicated THREE TIMES I wanted ACRYLIC?" He was clearly embarrassed and turned away and I said, "Leon that is enough reason for me never to come back here again!" Now, I have to wonder how many customers he has swindled this way. Vanessa did not seem ruffled at her husband's lie or his indifferent response to me, which leads me to wonder if they are in this together as a "bait and switch" type of operation. This was the first time this ever happened to me, but I will go to a different nail salon from now on. That is no way to run a business and customers should be aware to BEWARE. If the owner of this salon lied about a customer once, he probably has done it before and will again.
