My 8 year old was in pain and sat up a little and let out a tiny scream. So as she did this the dentist,I believe Cookesly, put his hands on her arms and forcefully sat her back down then w his hand in the middle of her chest pushed her back. Then said"If you scream in my ear ,I'll scream in yours!".....Of course I complain and then receive a letter requesting that I take my 3 girls somewhere else! We've been going there for 15 years!!!!

Wait time.

Wait time for my nieces was half hour after their scheduled time. We showed up 10 minutes early. So we waited 40 minutes just to be seen. This was with an appointment. Every child should be seen in a timely manner. You should make this a policy. Thank you for taking every other child and telling my mom "soon".

Excellent Staff all the way around!!!

I would like to say that I disagree with the people who say unless you are title 19 you are not treated good. I have been here multiple times and I have observed the wonderful care that this office has given to both those with private insurance and title 19. The work this office does in the community and for the under privelaged children as well as the privelaged should be recognized!!! Kudos to you Black Hills Pediatric Dentistry for your caring staff!!! Thank You for your service!!!

Awesome Care

I have been taking my children here for 6 years, there has only been one time that my youngest really complained, they had a hard time getting her numb when she had an absess tooth when we first started. They have been wonderful to our kids & very cost comparative.

Absolute Torture

I took my daughter here as her first dental experience. I was told she had 2 cavities that needed to be filled. On our filling day I was told to wait in the waiting room. My tearful child returned to me and told me that "they tried to kill me." I checked out and was charged a $25 handling fee. I took my daughter to my dentist and was told that these "cavities" were only stains at this point but could be sealed and we have had no other problems. Dr. Donheiser only wants to practice sedation dentistry, where he can treat the kids in a drug induced state and rake in the dough. He makes their first dental experience awful so he can "recommend" his surgical center.

Treated respectfully

The staff was nothing but friendly and professional for us. We do not qualify for Title 19 benefits. In fact, we are not fortunate to have any dental insurance at all, but when our young son fell and broke his baby tooth, they were able to get us in right away and accommodate our concerns without a problem. Our older daughter has also been in for cleanings and the staff was always friendly and helpful.

Another non-title 19 family

I have to agree that unless you get state aid, this is not the place to go. I can't count the number of times I heard the phrase "Your Title 19 will take care of this for you." while sitting in that waiting room, and then watched the happy (non-paying) family stroll on out. On the other hand, if you're responsible for even a portion of your own bill, you can count on being asked for that before they will even do you the courtesy of talking to you nicely.

Unnecessary Service

Took my son in for a cleaning he had two very loose teeth (like any minute they were going to come out). They want to pull them, and of course charge me to do so. This after they had be put a crown on a baby tooth he lost in 8 months. They have great friendly people but, I am going to find a new dentist one who doesn't want to charge for unnecessary services. Oh and my son lost the teeth just fine on his own the next day.

Sparkling Smiles

Our experiences with BHPediatric Dentistry have been nothing by good! Fun waiting room, stuff to do for the kids waiting for their appointment, x-rays, parental consultation, etc. Our daughter who had two open-heart surgeries tripped and fell chipping her teeth so they had to be extracted. Because of her surgical past, she needed special attention and Dr. Donhiseraccomodated us wonderfully, saving us a trip to Omaha. We do not receive aid and rely on our insurance to help out, which leaves us to pay the remaining balance - just like anywhere else offereing services. The front desk personnel haev been nothing but professional and polite...but it is the way our girls enjoy going to the dentist that really keeps us coming back. Our oldest had her first filling and we told her there would be a shot - she came home and laughed at us because they didn't give her any shot! That's how good they are!

Another Bad Experience

My family was treated badly here, too. If your income is low enough to qualify you for state coverage, you will be treated like royalty at this practice. But if you are a hard-working family that pays their own bills, you can count on being treated like the scum of the Earth!! Unless the state is paying your way, go somewhere else!!

Deceptive and Dishonest Billing Practice/Treats Insured Patients as Indigent Individuals

My family has Dental Insurance, and this provider has a contract with our insurance company. Even so, they overbilled us and kept the extra funds from a January appointment. They then refused to treat our child when I would not give them funds up front that would have resulted in a $200 overpayment for the services that were going to be provided. (Despite the fact that we had a credit balance on our account from their overbilling 7 months prior.) I will not comment on the quality of their work, but a dental practice is always going to have a billing office associated with it, and in my opinion, the practices of this billing office are inappropriate, deceptive, and dishonest.
