Store was very smelly kinda moldy. Birds seem to have a really bad smell and I have a grey African parrot I know what bird poop smells like. Hamsters and Rats habitat is very dirty you can't really see the pets. Alot of dead fish. I wasn't asked for help. Walked out empty handed.

Gives small business a bad name.

If I could give this place a zero, I would. Today at 2pm on Nov. 13, 2019 I went in to buy some plants for my aquarium ( I’ve been a customer for years) and the staff followed me and my sister since we walked into the store. As we were leaving two employees accused me of stealing and they tried to intimidate me into showing the contents of me purse. Naturally I didn’t have anything but this experience has left a sour taste in my mouth. I called to speak to the manager and all they said was that they suspect anyone who wanders at their store. Wanders... that is what you do at a store to see what you want to buy or check out the variety of things. Now because of this I will buy the dog stroller (that was $200) somewhere else. The same stroller is $50 at Target. So much for trying to buy local and supporting small shops.


To make matters even more insulting, I emailed the store directly and instead of the manager emailing back, you have replied publicly to cover up your mistake and keep your name clean.

I went back on Thursday to return a leaf I bought. I asked you in person if you caught anything on camera and you turned bright red and said no. Don’t try to turn the narrative and make yourself look good. You’ve banned me and my family and that’s fine but be sincere about what actually happened.

Very disappointed in how your company has handled this situation and there is no need to ban us from your store. We ourselves don’t ever want to set foot near it again.

ALL I have to say is this STORE is very racist. NOT just once they did to me. I went back giving them a second chance looking to buy plants and driftwood for my fish tank and they would try every possible way to avoid you if u are ASIAN. I would NEVER shop there again and would not recommended ANY of my families OR friends to shop there.

Regarding Saltwater Section-



The saltwater section is what is to be expected of a larger chain store, a little on the dirtier side with less specialized selections of lifestock, but lots to chose from. They do have some of the better prices in town however and have a large selection of Aquarium husbandry equipment for purchase that is hard to find at any other LFS.



If they didn't have as much as they do I would rate lower, but because of the sheer size of the store and the amount going on within I feel they are middle ground for a pet store.

I am so disappointed. Four weeks ago I bought a tank and everything to go in it spending a ton of money. Including a pirate boat for $28. I followed all the instructions from the fish expert waiting 2 weeks before adding fish and started with a feeder gold fish. Then I went back and bought more fish removed the gold fish and slowly started adding a few fish as recommended. 5 days later one fish died, I took it in to store and they blew me off saying that it was a fluke thing. I come home and now 2 more fish dead and all the others have ich. I told the fish expert they looked like they have small bubbles on them he said not to worry. But after researching myself they have ich. He could have given me the proper meds and treatment but I got nothing and no refund or new fish. I should have spent my $250 at Petsmart or somewhere else. Oh and all the coupons that came with the tank where expired so it was probably a really old tank.

We thank Whitie's Pets for introducing my husband and I to our dog Buddy. We had 16 years of pure love from our "little man". We wish we could go back to Whitie's and bring him home again . . . except Buddy now waits for us to come home.

This is a great pet store. I buy my cat food here. It is very big, my guess is over 18000 square feet. It has every conceivable brand of dog and cat food and great prices. It has the best selection of leashes collars and harnesses (with lots of colors) of any pet store I have ever visited. The reptile and aquarium department is great. If you shop here you won't need to go anywhere else in the Fresno area. As a plus there is a Trader Joe's right across the street..
