Excellent Surgeon

Dr. Miller first saw our daughter when she was 6 days old on Oct. 19, 2009 to determine what exactly was the lung mass that had been detecting during my pregnancy. He reviewed her CT scan we brought in, then ordered an MRI to get a better picture of what was going on. He was very thorough at our appt. and explained what he could see and what he thought it most likely was and everything that would have to take place to correct it. Hearing your 6 day old baby would need surgery is not something any parent wants to hear, but Dr. Miller was very assuring that she would do fine, be safe, and recover quickly.

On Oct. 21st, we checked into Cook's for the MRI. What was supposed to be a 45 minute procedure turned into a whole day event due to a machine going down leaving just one machine available for all patients scheduled that day. Dr. Miller was very supportive and checked in on us several times throughout the day. I'm sure he could see our anxiety levels shooting up with every hour that passed! Once they finally took her he actually sat in during the procedure and within minutes he came out to tell us he knew exactly what it was. The MRI continued for 45 minutes, but we were SO thankful and relieved to know the good news SO FAST! Our baby girl still needed surgery, but she didn't have cancer and it wasn't anything she would have to deal with for months, years, or the rest of her life.

On Oct. 26th @ 13 days old, our daughter had her surgery. What was supposed to last 1-2 hours only took about 30 minutes! When my husband saw the doctor come out so fast ( I was in the bathroom pumping), he said his heart stopped until he saw the smile on the doctor's face. Her surgery went great, they had no problems removing the lung tissue, and she was doing well. Even though he had shared the news with my husband, he came back shortly after to personally tell me everything he told my husband.

We could not have asked for a better surgeon!! The staff is great, the doctor himself has the best attitude and bedside manner, and specializes in only pediatrics. We would recommend Dr. Miller to everyone who needs a ped surgeon.

As for our daughter, she is now 3 months old and as happy and healthy as can be! She came home 4 days after her surgery just in time for her first Halloween. Her incision healed completely within 2 weeks and her scar is amazing almost invisible thanks to the way it was done to not only blend in with her nature skin folds, but to avoid any muscle damage.
