I went to this supermarket today to change 2 WIC checks. Ive been changing WIC checks for the past 3 years so I am familiar with the process and know what items I can and cannot take. Sometimes when I get things from WIC the items go over the check amount. They usually put the receipt together with the WIC check to show all the items that were taken. Its usually not a problem even if the amount goes over as long as I have all the items stated on the check. So today, when I was changing one check, the items totalled up to be 61 cents over the wic amount. So the cashier said that I would have to leave an item out. I was explaining to her that no I do not because I am entitled to all of the items. She said that it doesnt work like that and told me to take out 1 of the cheeses. Then she told me to get a cheaper bread. However, the bread that I got is WIC approved and all of the other cheaper breads expires this week so I was not going to get another bread when the one I wanted did not expire until another 2 weeks and it was WIC approved. She went to go speak to the manager and the manager didnt even come down to speak to me. He told her to tell me to come back later and I said no I am here now. That was so unprofessional. After going back and forth with her she finally finished the transaction because I took out some cheese (even though Im entitled to it). Then it was time to process the other check with was cereal and beans. For the beans, I can get either cans or the bagged beans. I had a can and she told me that I cannot get that, that it has to be in a bag. And im telling her that I can get those and have been getting it for the past 3 years. She refused and gave me bagged beans (Mind you, the bagged beans didnt even scan she had to manually put it in because it said it wasnt WIC approved). This was the worst experience I've ever had. I dont appreciate that this supermarket makes up their own WIC rules and does not comply with the State's WiC rules.
