New Mexico Educator's has the worst customer service. They also charge $35 for overdraft fees - most banks charge $26. They also charge a daily fee each day until the overdraft is rectified. I even experienced an overdraft fee when there was more than enough in the account to cover the costs. They were rude and told me I was wrong. I was looking at my statement and there was a positive balance before and after the actual charge and the fee. UNBELIEVABLE!! My bank merged with NM Educators so I tried them out. I have never been treated with so much disrespect. Any credit union is better than New Mexico Educators. I found First Financial to be respectful and no crazy fees.

I am so glad I switched from the Big Bank to the credit union.

Easy-going polite friendly service, never have to wait in line. It's great to do business with people who treat you like their neighbor and friend.

Also, consider the ongoing devastation of our nation's economy being perpetrated by the big multi-national Banksters, and the fact that banking with a locally owned bank or credit union helps the local economy.

Well Fargo is the worst bank in our area. I used to wait in line at Wells Fargo (either standing in line indoors or waiting in my car at the drive-in teller) for 30 to 45 minutes for any transaction. One time, I arrived at the drive-in teller at 4:05 and listened to the entire hour of Democracy Now on the radio while the lines of cars slowly inched forward. When the 5:00 news came on, I was the only one left in the line and the window tellers could see me, but just as I reached the window they shut their blinds and closed down. Next day I went in during business hours and complained to the supervisor, who tried to tell me I was wrong, that I must have been mistaken about the time, etc. I explained that I knew precisely what time it was because Democracy Now is only on from 4:00 to 5:00 in our area, but she just repeated that sometimes people think they're waiting an hour when it's really only a few minutes.

I closed that account soon after.

Switch to a credit union. You'll be glad you did.

Disappointing banking experience

I have been with nmefcu for many years now and had no problems. Now they have grown and become greedy. I have never heard of a bank that will charge the customer a fee to deposit checks(after the 10th check), charge you to count one's, put a hold on your cash deposits at the atm for two buisiness days, have high interest rates on loan and that is if you even get the loan. They are horrible at customer service by not resolving problems and at the end of having a stressful encounter, the last thing you hear is "Thank you for your membership" when they should say "Thank you for your money good luck getting it back" I like them before they got big and greedy. Beware with the lies as well. They told me all banks charge to deposit checks...well...Rio grande credit union does not...us Federal credit union does not...and that is the only 2 that I called. and why a bank will charge to give them money is beyond me. Sick really
