So Great to Have Him Back!

Dr. Bessmer was our vet in another clinic... we were heartbroken when we were informed that he left. We had gone to many vets after, but our girls (2 cats and a ferret) wouldn't accept any one of them. They were raised since (very nearly) birth with Dr. Bessmer and he has always shown the most compassion and knowledge... more then we could ever ask for. He knows Bagheera and Belle Dame by name (even though their names are a bit odd to pronounce)We were so happy to hear that he had purchased this office and that we would be able to finally know that our girls were in the best of hands (once again!) If you want a vet that will go above and beyond; THIS is the place to come to and the man you should see!

New Owner/Doctor at Elk Creek

Dr. Aaron Bessmer purchased this veterinary business in April 2012. He is an outstanding doctor and a loving, caring man. He previously worked at another veterinary clinic in Sioux City where we took our dogs as well as dogs from a rescue we were part of. Dr. Bessmer ALWAYS went above and beyond not only in caring for all the furkids but was always available when needed no matter the day or time. We feel great loyalty to the previous clinic for the excellent care we have always received, but made the decision to continue our relationship with Dr. Bessmer when he purchased Elk Creek Animal Hospital. I absolutely guarantee that you will be convinced of Dr. Bessmer's knowledge, skill, and compassion for your furkids from the moment you first meet him. We trust him and his staff completely with the care of our two furkids (Boxers). Check out Elk Creek Animal Hospital, you will be more than satisfied.

Irresponsible with Parvovirus - take your pet's elsewhere!

Take your animals elsewhere!!!The vets at this office were presented with a litter of puppies by a "rescue shelter"; these puppies "had been housed at a facility with recent exposure to parvovirus." (This virus is usually fatal in dogs and cats.) Instead of insisting that the "rescuer" quarantine the puppies to determine whether they were infected before intermingling them with other dogs, the vet chose to give a vaccination. That is fine, but it also makes it impossible to test whether the animal has parvovirus because any test would yield a positive -whether false or true. An animal can carry parvo-virus for a period of 7 days to several weeks without showing any symptoms. They did not test before vaccinating. The puppies were sent back to the shelter and adopted to families, and the vet gave explicit permission for my puppy to travel across state lines to me.I was told the animal had been seen by a vet, received vaccinations, and was determined healthy. However, just hours after

DIRTY PLACE, VET does 1/2 arse work!!!!!!! needs to be reported!

This female Vet is very uncaring towards her animals. The Vet techs admitted they even take their animals to Singing Hills..what does that tell you?? Scary! She gave our kitten too much anesthesia w/out weighing either one of our kittens. There was no record on file of a weight and they were in the Vet's office 4 times before spay/declaw procedure. What sort of DR doesn't weigh an animal before administering anesthesia drug?? Now our kiiten has brain damage and blind! We are looking for a good home for her as we aren't able to give her 24 hour care that is needed. Maybe the Vet should have to find her a home! Can you say we are NOT paying for this so called "accident"? She needs to be reported and I guess I will be the one to that too!

HORRIBLE VET!!!! UNPROFESSIONAL!

DO NOT take your animal to this VET!!! We took our two kittens there in Dec 2010 and the Vet "forgot" to weigh them and gave our #3 female way too much anesthesia and now she's brain dead and blind!!!! The Vet thinks it's just an accident and happened during surgery..well yeah it did because she had no clue what the poor thing weighed before she knocked her out! We are not happy and not paying our bill for her!!!!!!! Please do not go there! THe place is a filfthy dirty mess too...cupboards hanging open, smells stinky and not sure they ever clean! It's gross! Go to Singing Hills as they are awesome, clean and put your animal #1 as it should be when you're a VET!!!!

very good care for a sane price tag

I've been using Elk Creek for the past 8 years. Never had a problem -- the staff is friendly, vets are caring and concerned, and you can get out of the place without spending a fortune.
