mother has been in the Geriatric psychiatry unit for 10 days. She is 92 with Congestive Heart Disease and Vascular Dementia. The Psychiatric Care is great, the medical care is appalling. While she is getting better mentally, she has developed an eye infection, asthma and severe back pain from previous compression fractures and red eyes.
No one noticed until I had to threaten to discharge her. Finally a medical doctor showed up to asked me what I wanted. He listened to her chest for half a second and again asked me what I wanted him to do. He finally ordered nebulizer treatments, to start that day and vicodin for her back
The next day I found my mother so weak she is sitting in a wheelchair, her lunch in front of her at 1:30. She was coughing inspite of the vicodin which acts as a cough suppressant and pain medication.
I complained to the nurse who told me that my mother had had a treatment, that I was not letting her do her job and I shouldn't come to visit so often.
So On my way out I called the respiratory therapy department directly. After several phone calls I got a very nice supervisor . No my mother hadn't received any nebulizer treatments at all, except the one at 2:30 after I left. I explained my concerns and she assured me she would make sure my mother got 4 treatments daily as the doctor ordered.
Now I have to go back to see if these treatments are working or if my mother has a respiratory infection that needs antibiotic. Lets hope it's not MERSA.

I would highly recommend this hospital! I got a new hip on the 25th of Oct. I'd read reviews this was a horrible place but, I trusted (more or less) my surgeon. I was delightfully surprised at the care & attention I received from the nurses and CMA's. I even got one plate of hospital food I actually enjoyed!!! The furniture could be upgraded, but furniture isn't what someone goes to the hospital for, right?

Stay out for profit the bottom line is the money the make offor of you. Short staffed and the ones that are there are over worked. Starting from the business office while admitting my mom supervisor interrupted to speak with employee and never looked at me and said excuse me I need to address this with my clerk, then when she got to the psych unit the nurse practical for that unit was dress like she was going to the beach in a sun dress and no lab coat, every day since then she would come in looking like she was going to the beach while everyone less had scrubs or lab coat. Very unprofessional she was creepy what about 1st impressions, upper management does not care the dollar is the bottom line , there are good hospital here but this one is not one of them

The billing department and the radiology scheduling are some of the most rudest people alive. Every time I have to schedule a test, I am given a mountain of grief about my insurance. They have a history of my tests done and every time they have been paid and promptly. I am not a welfare patient and refuse to be treated as though I am beneath their status.

DO NOT go to this hospital unl...

DO NOT go to this hospital unless you like being ignored and up-charged. This hospital may be pretty on the outside but was by far the most HORRIBLE hospital I have ever seen. My mom recently had a medical condition that required ER services, they ended up admitting her...this was after a 3 hour wait in the ER. She then sat in the ER waiting for a bed for an additional 4 hours. They ran test after test, which is not a bad thing but heaven forbid you don't want their doctors to do the surgery, you might as well become invisible, except for them ordering additional tests (can you say up-charge?). Please don't tell them you want to see your own doctor because they will never have heard of them, guess their doctors know every doctor in the East Valley. Ignore the sign that says check out time is at 11 am, it is a fallacy! At 6:30 am they said she could go home, at 11 we were told that the hospitalist (PA) needed to release her. No one showed up until 2:30 pm and it was right in the middle of another test, so the PA stated she would be "right back" by 5:30 pm we were still waiting. We never saw her again! My mother finally said she would be signing herself out immediately, it was amazing how quickly they were able to get the discharge papers together. When the PA finally spoke to us, she said she was waiting for test results, that we had received a copy of hours before. She said "I know, I printed them". (can you say LIAR?) They wanted my mother to have a prescription for COPD medication that was completely unneccesary, as she does not have COPD. They stated that this was the medication that she received during a breathing treatment, that she never had. They did not believe that she had not had a breathing treatment and had to "check". My mom is in NO WAY mentally impaired and to not believe her was difficult to swallow as the same PA just lied to us. Additionally on Sunday afternoon we asked for my mom's water pitcher to be filled, they said they would be "right in" with it, by Monday she still had not received it. If you like being lied to, called a liar, ignored and treated as invisible, go to this hospital if not, GO ELSEWHERE! I would NEVER return to this hospital even if I was dying.

e.r. staff needs a leader, no direction, patient's wating over an hour for anything only to find out the tests order were never sent to the correct department, i know more who/what happen last night at date night or dinner than my husbands care he received. LEVEL IV they need to be taken OFF Trauma status period. my husband was taken by a nurse in a wheelchair to the curb,I walked acorss the parking lot to get our car only to find out she left him and went back in. HE WAS GIVEN MEDICATION, couldn't stand, wheelchair was not even locked. two total strangers came up to help me assist me in getting my husband in the car. so i guess when the discharge papers are signed STAFF/ HOSPITALare done with you, take my warning citizens of east mesa, chose another E.R. this one is not safe. maybe the hospital it self is good. but I wouldn't trust it.sad part about all this. THEY WERE NOT BUSY!!!! too busy socailizing. 0900 3/10/12.

I work there. They only care about your money. Avoid this evil money hungry facility like the plague. The doctors and nurses are incompetant. Dangerous!

I would not recommend this medical center. I believe their billing practices are unfair. I have been lied to by the staff and the only way to resolve my issue was to threaten to report them to my insurance co. Also, it seems that they run extra test, i.e, a very expensive mammagram after a regular one and never find anything.

Exceptional

To have a prestine hospital with great customer service in East Mesa has been long awaited. Mountain Vista Medical Center provides health care services above and beyond the standard of care. I would take myself or any member of my family there for health care needs again.

Unprofessional

I went to their emergency room for severe abdominal pain. Some of the staff were inept, and the attending physician had the attitude that he did not want to be bothered. He diagnosed me with gastritis, and never did a hands on physical examination of my abdomen. Two days later at Banner Desert I had surgery to have an inflamed and infected gall bladder filled with many stones removed. The difference between the two emergency rooms was amazing. This is not an emergency room I would go to again for any reason.

If your life depends on it. Don't go to this hospital. They discharged a lady that spent 12 hours in er she could hardly walk and was in extreme pain as she walked out their doors. She ended up two days later in Saint Josephs Hospital in icu in critical condition fighting for her life. Thanks Mountian Vista sending a critically ill person away.
