Provided by DexKnowsI have a tropical fish tank that has live corals and I found that my tank was infected with a parasite that was attacking the corals. I did some research online and found some medicine (happens to normally be used to treat heart worms in dogs) that would safely remove the parasites in my tank. I called all over to try and get a prescription and no vet, not even the one I take my dogs to, would prescribe the medicine to me. Half the time the staff at these other clinics couldn't wrap their head around the fact that this was for my fish tank and not for my dog, and the other half seemed worried that prescribing this could somehow get them into trouble. I finally decided to try a different route and contact an exotic animal vet. The staff at Eastside Avian & Exotic Animal Medical Center listened carefully as I explained my problem and were very willing to help. This form of treatment wasnât easy to find even on the internet, so I was amazed that Dr. Johnson-Delaney knew exactly what I was talking about and agreed to write me a prescription. Unfortunately this specific medicine wasn't being carried by any of the local vets, so I needed to purchase it online, which required the staff to do additional work to get the prescription ordered on my behalf. When all was said and done, Dr. Johnson-Delaney refused to accept any payment for her help. It was clear to me that she truly loves her job and helping animals.
